Stefania Zamparelli is an independent photographer who has traveled and shot extensively.
Stefania began to photograph at the age of 15, while continuing her study, until she earned her Master degree in foreign languages and literatures at the renowned Istituto Universitario Orientale di Napoli, Italy.
Patterns of her background include her native city, the student revolts during the 1970's, folk traditions, Marx, Freud, Pasolini, mannerism, psychedelia, the abstract, drama and neo-realism.
An unavoidable need to photograph and a mania for the surrounding world drove her to travel, within Europe in the beginning and then to Africa, the Middle East, Asia and South America.
In 1991 she moved to NYC where she presently lives as her main base.
Stefania's work has been published in Popular Photography, Il Manifesto, Il Mattino, Musica Rock & Altro!, Herald Tribune, Oggi Sette, America Oggi, “D”La Repubblica Delle Donne, Insieme, US Italia, Invasian Journal, and Viaggiare.
She's published a monograph, "Flocks, Wolves and Territories" and has her photos in private and gallery collections.
She is the founder and a director of Community Awareness
Through Arts Inc., a Brooklyn based non profit organization.
